GNOME Handhelds get public funds!

Posted by javi vazquez on November 21, 2006

Our project GNOME Handhelds has been selected for public funding within the Galician Information Society 2006 R&D Program, funded partially by Xunta de Galicia using ERDF (European Regional Development Fund).

Although our submission asked for 70% funding and it was reduced to 50%, the confirmation of these extra funds is a good point for Igalia and GNOME future in handheld devices.
The main goals of GNOME Handhelds project are:

  • Adaptation of GNOME GUI to screens with small dimensions.
  • Adaptation of the platform to devices with few memory and computational resources.
  • Developing and improving tools for software test and quality control.
