But when it comes to my daily mail at work, where I receive and write hundreds of e-mails every day, and sometimes work remotely by ssh, I still prefer to use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mutt.org\/\">Mutt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mutt is fast, configurable and very powerful, but I always had missed a simple way of knowing the amount of read and unread messages in each of the mailboxes. Two days ago I discovered that <a href=\"http:\/\/vorlon.cwru.edu\/~jrh29\/mutt\/index.html\">Justin Hibbits<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/thomer.com\/mutt\/\">Thomer M. Gil<\/a> had written a Mutt patch that implemented this feature.<\/p>\n<p>The list of detailed features in the webpage is very clear:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A sidebar with a list of folders on the left side of the mutt window.<\/li>\n<li>Hide\/Unhide the sidebar with a single keystroke.<\/li>\n<li>Every line in the sidebar lists a folder with the total and new number of messages in it.<\/li>\n<li>Optionally highlight folders with new messages.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll up and down the list of folders and open the selected folder.<\/li>\n<li>Configurable sidebar width and colors.<\/li>\n<li>Configurable key bindings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After installing the <a href=\"http:\/\/thomer.com\/mutt\/mutt_1.5.10-1_i386.deb\">Debian GNU\/Linux package<\/a> and following the very simple Documentation of the <a href=\"http:\/\/thomer.com\/mutt\/\">webpage<\/a>, the sidebar folder works perfectly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Evolution is a nice program with integrated mail, addressbook and calendaring; I have being using it for my personal e-mail for several years.
