I started contributing to this project last year, and this is the first release since I joined the Project Management Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Apache POI is a Java library that allows reading and writing Office documents, both in binary and XML formats (OOXML). My main contributions have been adding API to access properties in docx documents that were previously hidden (<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/apache\/poi\/pull\/843\">table indent<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/apache\/poi\/pull\/859\">embedded charts<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/apache\/poi\/pull\/1172\">right-to-left<\/a>, among others), improved support for pptx rendering (<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/apache\/poi\/pull\/990\">transparent bitmaps<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/apache\/poi\/pull\/1174\">theme colors as highlight<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/apache\/poi\/pull\/969\">fix table style rules<\/a>) and, additionally, general bugfixing.<\/p>\n<p>We at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.igalia.com\">Igalia<\/a> are best known for our work in browsers, compilers, multimedia, kernel or graphics, but this is an example of our wider contribution to Open Source Software.
