{"id":50,"date":"2008-06-16T00:37:40","date_gmt":"2008-06-15T23:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.igalia.com\/chema\/?p=50"},"modified":"2008-06-16T00:37:40","modified_gmt":"2008-06-15T23:37:40","slug":"guadec-and-akademy-2009-coruna-why-not","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.igalia.com\/chema\/2008\/06\/16\/guadec-and-akademy-2009-coruna-why-not\/","title":{"rendered":"GUADEC and aKademy 2009, Coru\u00f1a, why not?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last two weeks we have been working hard preparing a proposal for hosting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guadec.org\">GUADEC<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/akademy.kde.org\">aKademy<\/a> in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.turismocoruna.com\">Coru\u00f1a<\/a> next year. After organizing GUADEMY last year we decided that this could be the moment for writing a good proposal for next year, and I feel that we have done it.<br \/>\nThe following organizations <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gpul.org\">GPUL<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.igalia.com\">Igalia<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.udc.es\">University of A Coru\u00f1a<\/a> are proposing together the organization of the most important Free Desktop event in the world, all GNOME and KDE developers together in the same Venue going ones to aKademy and others to GUADEC.<\/p>\n<p>This would create the possibility of organizing cross-desktop global meetings, following the spirit we wanted for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guademy.org\">GUADEMY<\/a>.<br \/>\nI would like to thank all the organizations that supported our bid including the Regional Goverment of Galicia Xunta de Galicia, AGASOL, ASOLIF, GNOME HISPANO and other organizations and people from KDE and GNOME that give us really interesting comments to improve our proposal.<\/p>\n<p>In the proposal is the mandatory <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Queimada\">Queimada<\/a> and as almost all the people that attended to different events organized by us we can organize a lot of amazing surprises. Excellent food, almost-proffesional organization (lot of years of experience), fantastic volunteers and a lot of love for Free Software.
