{"id":23,"date":"2006-12-01T13:48:22","date_gmt":"2006-12-01T11:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.igalia.com\/berto\/2006\/12\/01\/lastfm-client-for-debian-sarge\/"},"modified":"2006-12-01T13:48:22","modified_gmt":"2006-12-01T11:48:22","slug":"lastfm-client-for-debian-sarge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.igalia.com\/berto\/2006\/12\/01\/lastfm-client-for-debian-sarge\/","title":{"rendered":"Last.fm client for Debian and Ubuntu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wrote about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.last.fm\/\">Last.fm<\/a> some time ago <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.igalia.com\/berto\/2006\/10\/18\/the-lastfm-player-and-radio-stations\/\">in this blog<\/a>, and mentioned some of the programs you can use to listen to this internet station.<\/p>\n<p>However, the previous official player is deprecated and no longer supported (although it still works) as the Last.fm team has released a new client (in beta stage for GNU\/Linux systems). This new client can be downloaded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.last.fm\/tools\/downloads\">here<\/a>, but there&#8217;s no Debian package, just a precompiled binary in a <tt>.tar.bz2<\/tt> file. Moreover, this binary does not work in sarge, the current stable release of Debian.<\/p>\n<p>As this new client is GPL too (congratulations!) I downloaded the source code and made a Debian package ready to run in sarge systems. You can get it from <a href=\"http:\/\/people.igalia.com\/berto\">my webpage<\/a>. I have been using it successfully for some time, but any comments regarding its packaging are welcome.
